Donald Trump vs Jimmy Kimmel is turning into one of those loud, messy celebrity-style political fights that keeps bouncing from TV screens to social media posts to real-world outrage.
It started as jokes on a late-night comedy show and has now grown into a full-blown demand for firing, public accusations, and even references to a frightening security incident that followed days later.

At the center of it all are sharp posts from Donald Trump and Melania Trump, and a furious response aimed at ABC and Disney, the network behind Jimmy Kimmel’s show.

The controversy really picked up speed after Melania Trump posted on X, calling out ABC and demanding action against Jimmy Kimmel. She said the network must “take a stand” against what she described as his “atrocious behavior.”
In her post, Melania did not hold back. She wrote that Kimmel’s “hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country.” She also said his monologue about her family was “not comedy,” but something that felt harmful and “corrosive”.
Melania specifically objected to Kimmel being on television at all, saying people like him “shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.” She also called him a “coward,” saying he hides behind ABC because the network continues to support him.
Not long after Melania’s message, Donald Trump posted his own reaction on Truth Social, and it was even more aggressive. Trump began by attacking Kimmel’s comedy and TV popularity, saying he is “in no way funny” and pointing to what he called “terrible television ratings.”
Trump then accused Kimmel of showing a fake video involving Melania Trump and their son Barron. According to Trump, the video made it look like Melania and Barron were sitting in Kimmel’s studio watching him speak, which he strongly denied ever happened.
He also referenced a line from Kimmel’s show, where the comedian jokingly said, “Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.” Trump repeated this as part of his criticism, presenting it as deeply offensive.
Trump then connected Kimmel’s comedy segment to a real-world security scare. He referred to a situation where a man later tried to enter the White House Correspondents Dinner armed with weapons including a shotgun, handgun, and knives. Trump described the individual as having a “sinister reason” for being there and said he appreciated people who were angry at Kimmel’s content, calling it a “call to violence.”
Trump concluded his post by demanding action, saying Jimmy Kimmel “should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC.”
The original spark of the controversy came from Kimmel’s spoof of the White House Correspondents Dinner on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The segment aired a few days before the actual event in Washington DC.
In the parody, Kimmel jokingly acted as if he was hosting the dinner and made comedic comments about political figures, including the line involving Melania Trump and the “expectant widow” joke.
However, things became more serious when, days after the real White House Correspondents Dinner, an armed security incident took place at the venue. A shooter situation led to panic, and Donald Trump, Melania Trump, and other administration officials were quickly evacuated. Law enforcement officers were able to tackle the suspect on a different floor of the building.
